A&S Baja 2017

A&S Baja 2017 vacay - sans Lucy

B.C. Mexico
Valle de Gualdellupe

Friday

Vena Cava - Winery no.1

Vena Cava winery is actually housed under old wooden boats.

We bought a delightful Savignon Blanc for about $20 and a fancy Cabernet for about $30 - save-zies!

The patio at Vena Cava/Troika Food Truck. Partially surrounded by a faux lagoon/pond. I say there were swans, Aaron says there were ducks. Whatever.

Wine tasting was great, then we ate the best ceviche ever out of the food truck/kitchen called Troika. The bartender put on music and the song was Susi Q. I told him it was
my song and he said that everyone loves Susi Q!

Decantos - Winery no. 2

Good time tasting wine at Decantos, but the patio and view were wonderful...

Deckman's Restaurant at Mogor Winery

Going, going, gone.

💛

Meanwhile, in la cocina...

Michelin Star awarded Chef Drew Deckman at the grill.

We ate oysters and foi groi, quail and suckling pig - all sourced from the region,
and of course, the wine was too.

💛

A beautiful view for our 25 minute drive back to the casita. Night night!

Ensenada
Saturday

Cheers! We found Mulle Tres restaurant on the docks.

Huge ceviche de la casa for two (w/the best avocado ever) was about $10.
There was the slightest bit of fresh ginger in it. It was amazing!

...back "home", our view around sunset.

I met a friend while enjoying the sunset.

Familia Rubio Bodega Winery and Bodega
These are lamb tacos made with griddled cheese instead of a tortilla.
The red liquid is chili oil and the dark red is a hot sauce made  with habenero chili ash.
That's why its so dark.

Grapes at the F. Rubio Winery.
Sol de Media Noche (Midnight Sun)
Winery and cheese makers
We happened upon a cheese, wine, bread, jam, sauce(s)... tasting and festival.
It was delightful and free!

10 diff cheeses...
Maybe 20 diff jams, dips, spreads...

Guadelupe Valley scenes near the cheese shop.

...

Last stop on the trip to snap a few more vine shots.

...

And a late night Baja wine country snack for our first night home in San Diego.
